Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Well FAQ u too!

What is hashing?

The hash is a drinking club with a running problem.

On a Hash, we enjoy the sights of the Paris area and its surroundings while running together on a trail. We’ll have at least one beer stop along the way, and again at the end of trail.

When and where do we meet?

Paris Hash House Harriers meet every other Saturday at 2PM

Sans Clue Hash House Harriers meet every other Sunday at 2PM

Thursday Night Drinking Club (TNDC) meet every Thursday at 7PM

Paris Full Moon Hash House Harriers meet in summer, every month on the Thursday closest to the full moon at 19:00 (7pm)

If that is too complicated, just check the calendar.

Regarding location, it is up the the Hare - the person who lays the trail - to decide where to start. The location is announced on this website and on Meetup.

What happens in a hash exactly?

First, we meet at the start location on time (more or less). The Hare will explain how the trail is marked, and what to expect.

The trail is marked with chalk or flour puffs. The pack (called Hounds) then follow the markings to try and find the beer! Those might be quite confusing on purpose (or not), so it might sometimes be more of a treasure hunt than a run.

Halfway through the trail, we stop for a beer stop. The Hare will have prepared a few beers and snacks for us to enjoy.

At the end of the trail, we stop for a circle. This is where we sing songs, make fun of each other, and drink more beer.

Finally, there is usually an On-After, where we go to a bar to have a couple more drinks, sometimes food.

Any rules?

Nope, only traditions.

Come with an open mind, and don't take yourself too seriously.

Who can join the hash?

Anyone between 18 and 96 years old! If you are more than 96 we can probably make an exception.

Pets are also usually very welcome, but please check with the Hare first.

Nice, where do I sign up?

While anyone can join the hash without signing up by just... being there when it starts, we would very much appreciate if you could sign up on Meetup.

It helps us know how many people to expect, and it helps you get reminders about the next run. It's 100% free of course.

Is it okay if I can't run? Or if I'm very slow?

Yes! We have walkers and runners. The walkers usually walk about 5km, and the runners usually run about 10km. We all meet up at the beer stop and at the end.

The run itself is not competitive. We have many sneaky ways to slow down the Front Running Bastards (FRBs) and keep the pack together.

What if I don't drink beer?

That's okay, we often do have other options (wine, soft drinks, zero alcohol beer, ...). Just let us know in advance so we can make sure to have enough.

How much is Hash Cash and what is it for?

Hash Cash is set to 5€ per run, and can climb up to 10€ for special events - usually including a B.O.U.F.F.E (Buffet Of Unbelievably Fantastic Food Extravaganza).

It is collected at the start of the run, and is used to cover your beer and snacks during the run, and at the end.

The small excess is used to keep the club alive and pay for all the other stuff we need to run the hash (i.e. this website).

What should I bring?

It's up to you but running shoes are usually a good start. This could include water, sunblock, survival snack, chalk to back mark, a whistle if you can’t shout, a virgin, shiggy socks, a hash hymnal, a bag of tea, a bag of wine, and/or extra cash. Dress appropriately - we run, and we may get into some shiggy (mud, puddles, scratchy bushes, wet paint, ...)

Wait, what is a virgin?

If you don't know what a virgin is, you probably are one.

A virgin is someone who has never hashed before. If you are a virgin, you will receive a special welcome at the start of the run, and an even more special welcome at the end.

Too much information, it's hurting my head!
